It certainly has been the most extraordinary of times to say the least. Many families have had to adapt and each of us are facing a range of different challenges, in almost every aspect of our lives. The need for social distancing and staying within our isolation bubbles, whilst a requirement to keep us safe and to save lives, goes against our very nature as social creatures, needing to engage with other people. This can be especially true as a homeschooling parent where we are meeting others almost every single day of the week.
In light of this, we are offering a virtual meet up hosted by an AHE Committee member at 8:30pm for 40 mins which will be available daily (except Sunday) for the remainder of Alert Level 4 lockdown. This would be an opportunity for parents to meet up and just chat. Find out what others are doing, how things are going, the highs and lows. To share, to connect, have a laugh. There’s no obligation to come every day or stay the whole time. Whatever suits you.
Meetings are nightly (except Sundays) from 8:30-9:10pm using the video conferencing tool, Zoom*. If you haven’t used it, it’s free and easy to do. You don’t even need to sign up if you are just attending meetings. Go to Zoom.us to download the app.
For the Zoom Meeting ID refer to email sent to all AHE Members on 21st April 2020, “AHE Parent Connection – Daily Virtual Meet Up” from Director@ahe.org.nz
If you have not received the above email or are having trouble joining a meeting please send an email to Director@ahe.org.nz for assistance.
See you online!
* While there have been some concerns over the security of Zoom, for the purposes of this meet up, we believe the risks are minimal. Each meeting will need a password (changed daily), recording of meetings are turned off to ensure our privacy and participants can only be allowed in by the host ensuring invited guests only.
